Experience the natural beauty of the Torres Strait on one of the Strait Experience teams most loved tours. This exclusive tour offers a unique opportunity to get to know the landscape, seascape and sea life of the Torres Strait in this approximately 2 hour journey across the region.
Departing from Horn Island or Bamaga, this circuit tour takes you on an incredible journey around this incredibly beautiful region – it offers breathtaking views of the most northern outposts of Australia’s Great Dividing Range, the alluvial plains islands to the north, the remnant volcanic islands of the east and the sandy coral cays of the central island group.
In an Australian first and exclusively this package includes the only view of another country, you will come within 5km of Papua New Guinea.
Your incredible journey will include views of the remnant Great Dividing Range islands of Prince of Wales, Thursday, Badu, Mabuiag and Dauan. As you approach the 5km mark of the Papua New Guinea Coast, turn east to cross over the alluvial plain island of Saibai Island. Then, continue your journey towards Ugar Island, Australia’s most northern inhabited island, before passing over the volcanic island of Erub Island. Your journey will take you over Mer (Murray) Island, the home of Eddie Mabo and the birthplace of Native Title. As you return west, you’ll fly over the numerous coral cay islands, including the inhabited islands of Masig, Poruma and Iama Island, before soaring over the northern tip of Australia.
Our scenic flight tour includes a range of inclusions to ensure your comfort and enjoyment throughout the journey. You’ll enjoy return flights between Horn and Masig Island on a fixed-wing aircraft, as well as cold bottled water to keep you hydrated. Your personalised pilot, guide or interactive commentary will provide you with insights and information on the region throughout the tour, and you’ll receive an inflight information handout and refresher towels.
